In order to obtain from AMSA a Certificate of Safety Training, you must enrol in and complete all of these courses:
Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FIRE) & Personal Survival Techniques (PST)
Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) & Security Awareness Training (SAT)
The enrolment selections provided on this page currently do not include the practical components of the Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques and Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities courses.
We shall publish dates for the re-commencement of the practical training when the COVID-19 crisis has subsided, movement and spacial distancing requirements are eased and it is considered safe for students and teachers to start delivering the courses again.
We deliver all the theory online and the practical training is delivered over three days on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Please complete a Provide First Aid course through a third party before attending our training.
FIRE and PST are offered together in one selection and PSSR and SAT are offered together in a separate selection. The cost of each of these selections is significantly less than selecting the individual courses as ‘stand alone courses’. Additional early payment discounts of up to $300 apply to the “FIRE and PST” selection.
You have the choice of completing all the face to face training over 3 straight days or you can separate your attendance for the PSSR. It also allows you to spread the cost of the courses over a longer period if you wish to.
AMSA’s approval of our Certificate of Safety Training sets a limit to the number of students we can have in each practical training session. Since the FIRE and PST make up all of the practical face to face training on the first two days of face to face attendance, enrolling in the PSSR and SAT only does not guarantee you a place on the first two days of the face to face course.
1. Our face to face classroom training & assessment, fire practical and sea survival practical training is delivered on the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland only.
2. A pre-requisite of enrolment for the full CoST is that you hold a current Provide First Aid Statement of Attainment. If you hold an existing Provide First Aid or Apply First Aid or Senior First Aid certificate which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and was issued less than 3 years before the start date of our CoST course and you have renewed your CPR within the past 12 months then you can apply for Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). To apply for RCC please send a scan of your most recent certificates to Barry Barnes at firstname.lastname@example.org with a request for RCC for STCW compliant Elementary First Aid. If you do not hold a current Provide First Aid Statement of Attainment then you must complete this training at any RTO in Australia who offers a nationally recognised Provide First Aid course.
If you cancel your original enrolment more than 21 days before the course commencement date and you have not yet commenced the online learning then you will receive a refund of 90% of the course fees paid. If you cancel your enrolment within 21 days but more than 7 days from the course commencement date then you will receive no refund but you may transfer to a later course. A fee of $50 will be charged for each change of enrolment date. If the course fee increases from the time you first enrol to the time you cancel then the fee difference will be payable by you. If you cancel your enrolment 7 days or less before the course commencement date then the fees you have paid will be forfeited.
Maritime Career Training reserves the right to cancel a course at any time before the course commencement date. In this event you can choose to receive a full refund or to transfer to another course at a later date.
