Please read this:
In order to obtain from AMSA a Certificate of Safety Training, you must enrol in and complete all of these courses:
- Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FIRE)
- Personal Survival Techniques (PST)
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR)
- Security Awareness Training (SAT)
We deliver all the theory and 4 Final Assessments over about 40 hours of online learning and the practical training is delivered over two consecutive days of face to face training. You will need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a good and reliable internet connection for this. All online learning must be completed by 5pm on the Friday in the week before you attend the face to face training.
Please complete a Provide First Aid course through a third party before attending our face to face training.
Important Notes:
1. After you have completed the enrolment process, to start your online learning select My Account and click on the course to commence online learning. Your progress with the online learning will also be reported there.
Our face to face classroom training & assessment, fire practical and sea survival practical training is delivered on the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland only.
2. A pre-requisite of enrolment for the full CoST is that you hold a current Provide First Aid Statement of Attainment. If you hold an existing Provide First Aid or Apply First Aid or Senior First Aid certificate which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and was issued less than 3 years before the start date of our CoST course and you have renewed your CPR within the past 12 months then you can apply for Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). To apply for RCC please send a scan of your most recent certificates to student@stcw95.net with a request for RCC for STCW compliant Elementary First Aid. If you do not hold a current Provide First Aid Statement of Attainment then you must complete this training at any RTO in Australia who offers a nationally recognised Provide First Aid course.
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your original enrolment more than 21 days before the course commencement date and you have not yet commenced the online learning then you will receive a refund of 90% of the course fees paid. If you cancel your enrolment within 21 days but more than 7 days from the course commencement date then you will receive no refund but you may transfer to a later course. A fee of $55 will be charged for each change of enrolment date. If the course fee increases from the time you first enrol to the time you cancel then the fee difference will be payable by you. If you cancel your enrolment 7 days or less before the course commencement date then the fees you have paid will be forfeited.
Maritime Career Training reserves the right to cancel a course at any time before the course commencement date. In this event you can choose to receive a full refund or to transfer to another course at a later date.

All students who successfully complete Maritime Career Training’s AMSA Approved Certificate of Safety Training Course are issued with an AMSA Approved Course Completion Certificate. This certificate forms part of your application to AMSA for the issue of your Marine Qualification, the Certificate of Safety Training.
All students completing the Full CoST course will be issued with a Statement of Attainment that references the MARF codes that may be required for further education RPL by other training organisations.

If you request delivery of the training as accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), your student data for the registered training products that you have enrolled in will be updated to the National Register so that you can claim credits for the completed training if these products form part of a qualification that you seek at a later date through an Australian RTO accredited under the AQF.

If you request that we provide you with delivery of the training as accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), you are undergoing Nationally Recognised Training and must provide us with your USI code.
