If you hold an existing Provide First Aid or Apply First Aid or Senior First Aid certificate which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and it was issued less than 2 years before the start date of our CoST course and you have renewed your CPR within the past 12 months then you can apply for Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). To apply for RCC please send a scan of your most recent certificates to Maria Lenton at ml@stcw95.net with a request for RCC for First Aid. In that case the only training you need to undertake is for the following modules of the Certificate of Safety Training:

  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FIRE),
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) – delivered entirely online,
  • Personal Survival Techniques (PST)
  • Security Awareness Training (SAT) – delivered entirely online.

PST is delivered online plus 4 hours of classroom review & pool practical.

PSSR and SAT are delivered entirely online.

FIRE training is delivered online plus one and a half days theory review & practical at our Nambour Regional Training Centre.

The Certificate of Safety Training (CoST) issued by AMSA meets the requirements of the International Maritime Organization’s Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, as amended. (The STCW Convention).

Upon successful completion of the course you can apply to AMSA for your marine qualification – Certificate of Safety Training, which is valid for a full five years.
